RENDERED: New renderings of the 2012/2013 BMW 3-series Gran Turismo!

Following on the heels of the BMW X6 and the BMW 5-series Gran Turismo, in the hatchback-coupe-sedan-egg category, or whatever one might consider it, comes a brand new rendering of the new BMW 3-series Gran Turismo, courtesy of French magazine Auto Journal. Judging by the pictures, the Gran Turismo hatchback-sedan shape works much better on the smaller BMW 3-series than on the nearly 7-series-sized 5-series Gran Turismo, which is to date, despite being a very versatile and innovative BMW, has not exactly been the fastest seller, and compared to its BMW brethren, is rather homely looking.

Reportedly, the new 3-series GT will feature power-adjustable rear seats, a luxury option cribbed straight off the 7-series. The engine range will be the same range of 4-cylinders and 6-cylinders as the new 3-series.

The new BMW 3-series GT is expected to arrive in Spring of 2012, and cost 6,000 euros more than the 3-series sedan will.

Would you buy a BMW 3-series Gran Turismo over a 5-series or a 3-series?

  • Yes, absolutely.
  • No, I'd rather the standard 3-series.
  • No, I'd rather the standard 5-series.
  • No.

I just think it is too small to be a grand tourer. The newer BMW's have been adopting their flagship 7 series options to the 5 6 and 3 series for some time now, but a 3 series dressed up as a GT car?
