The Lincoln MKR concept - A 3-series fighter in the making

This is one hot concept car. The new Lincoln MKR, which was ostensibly Lincoln's concept for entry into the 4-door coupe field, is a very good looking vehicle. Whether it's intended to fight the 3-series or 5-series I don't know, but I do know this: I want it.

If released, this would be the first Lincoln RWD car since the underappreciated LS got sent off to pasture (not counting any of the SUV's or the Mark LT). It is powered by a 415-horsepower twin turbo V6, the good old EcoBoost that Ford has been talking up for so long. If released, it would surely come with less powerful options, such as the naturally aspirated V6 or an EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine. It's based off of the Mustang platform.

Aside from the lack of door handles and the strange concept interior, this car looks production ready to me. It's a mere 53 inches tall, which stems from its Mustang roots and its 4-door-coupe intent, although in pictures it does look more sedan than coupe. Still, it looks like a HOT sedan. I do sense a bit of Cadillac Sixteen influence in the design, though.

The strange grille somehow fits the car, as does the blocky rear end. It's futuristic and ultramodern, similarly to how the Acura TL is, but less controversially so.

Total weight of the car would be around 4,000 pounds. Considering the size, though, it looks more like a 3-series fighter. Although it might be, for all intensive purposes, more of a Cadillac CTS fighter. Either way, if Lincoln ever decided to release this, they would have a massive success on their hands. Ford hasn't announced either way whether this would or wouldn't be released, so for now, we just have to keep guessing and hoping.
