Top 5 topics to write a blog about: What should YOU blog about?

So, you want to start a blog, and write articles that are entertaining, original and informative. You believe you have something to share with the world. You have a great many interests (or even just one very strong interest), and you believe you would do very well writing about them. You want to write content that Adsense will fall in love with, that you can use either as full income or just some beer money. You love writing and you possibly even want to make a little bit of cash from putting pen to paper (or finger to keyboard), but you're having trouble coming up with topics about which to blog? The internet version of writer's block happens to everyone, but nevermind that; it still sucks.

So what should you blog about? The answer really depends on who you are and what you like, and what you want to write about. Also, what are your goals - to make money, or just to write and be read?

Top 5 topics to blog about

5: Hobbies. What do you like to do? What are you an enthusiast of, and do you feel you have something to share with other enthusiasts? Whether you like to fly airplanes, restore classic cars, scrapbook, embroider, or even basketweave, there's no better place to connect with others who share your hobbies, than the internet. And if you blog about your hobbies, you should easily be able to reach out to fellow hobbyists.

4: News. Blogging about current events, whether they be political, economic, related to current events, or just local community news and sports, is a great way to not only inform people, but to put your own writing out there to be seen. Many famous news reporters today are bloggers, such as Rachel Maddow, and if you can write interesting articles and get reads, then you can even put that on a resume to use toward convincing newspapers, magazines, etc. to hire you as a reporter or writer.

3. Making money online. Everyone wants to know how to make money online. Why do you think it's one of the hottest topics on the internet today? If you know anything whatsoever about making money online, you can blog about it, and most likely, you will generate interest and pageviews. In this economy in particular, it's quite the hot topic. Adsense is a huge money generator for millions of internet entrepreneurs, including many of the great writers you'll find here.

2. Your area of expertise. What do you do that you are an expert in - workwise or otherwise? Do you build cars for Chevrolet? Are you an aircraft mechanic, or a car customizer? Do you know more than anyone about Star Wars or Final Fantasy games? Whatever you are an expert in, you can be especially informative about. As an authority figure in your area of knowledge, you can have thousands of readers looking up to you, and hanging on your every word.

1. Reviews. Write reviews of anything - products that you used and loved. Products that you've hated. Cars that you've owned, driven or test driven. Restaurants. Your old college professors or high school teachers. Former jobs you've worked. Professionals (doctors, lawyers, etc.) that you have been to, or have had a need of their services in the past. Whatever you see fit to write about, write about it. There are more and more popular websites dedicated to all of these things, and as such, more internet traffic searching for reviews. Capture your fair share of that traffic.

More importantly, write about some combination of all of these. Don't get too bored writing about just one topic, unless it's something that you really can dedicate all of your writing to. Happy blogging!
