Car Town for Facebook: guide to winning races and car shows
Car Town is the very popular Facebook game in which you can become both the owner of your very own auto shop and an avid car collector.
It's also the game where you compete against your friends both in car shows and in races. By doing this you can win both money and experience points.
Most importantly, though, you can win bragging rights against your friends.
Sometimes it seems like it can cost a lot of money to either get a car powerful enough to win races, or cool enough to win car shows.
However, you can do it on the cheap. You can even beat far more expensive exotics with your cheaper cars.
How do you do it? Read on...
Racing against friends is one of the most fun and popular aspects of Car Town. Losing races against friends who have been playing longer than you have, though, can be frustrating. Here's how to even up the score.
Don't save up for a new car when you can easily win races with your Ford Pinto, Toyota Yaris or Volkswagen Beatle that you start the game with. You need to work on adding every performance modification that you can to your car. The initial modifications are cheaper so get those out of the way first. Doing the 4 initial mods alone will earn you 80 extra performance points.
If your modifications are not enough to win races because your friends have cars that are too tough to beat, then you can think about buying a new car. Pick a car that has the most performance points relative to the amount of money that it costs. My personal favorite is the Ford Fusion. Now, work on buying every performance modification for this one specific car. Once you complete this task you should have a powerhouse - a Ford Fusion, for example, will have 665 performance points once it has all of the mods. That's almost equal to a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren or a Lamborghini Gallardo.
Winning car shows is a little bit tougher, reason being that your fate is decided by people who vote upon your vehicle against other vehicles. Exotics usually have a big advantage. Take that advantage back with these tips.
Your car needs to somehow stand out from the crowd in order to get votes. Don't enter a car that merely blends in. Put every visual modification on your car that you absolutely can. Try to make them fit the character of the car. Don't be afraid to do something crazy I.E. putting the biggest rims on your car or truck as possible.
Older cars in general tend to fare better in car shows than the newer ones minus the exotics. However, take note of what types of cars pop up way too frequently when you are voting on cars in other car shows. Beetles and Pintos will pop up very frequently, for example. Pick a show car that is rarely seen in the show, since those will stand out even more than a common show car. Entries that have never been released in America such as the Opel Corsa, 1969 Nissan Skyline GT-R, and the Mercedes-Benz B-class, will stand out even more.
Create your own skins for your show car if you really want to put your car over the top. This works amazingly with any car. Put a decal on a big car or a work truck for a double whammy.
That's all for now! More tips? Post them as comments!
awesome...
I participate and vote in car shows often. When I speak of what we look for in cars, I speak for several of my car friends from real life that play this game. These guidelines ONLY apply to us for sure, but to others as well, thought maybe not a great percentage of the population. These go from biggest pet peeve to minor annoyances.
Big tires = No vote, unless on a truck.
Neon does not match anything on the car = no vote
Car tint does not match anything on car = no vote
pasting every vinyl you can = a kindergarden car = no
vote.
Unoriginal cars = Doms charger, challenger you win after Doms Charger = no vote.
White walled tires, why do we not see these today but only in the 50's? because they take attention away from the true car lines. (and get dirty easy)
Those are some common things that just make car people sad.
Well how bout no more downing and some good ideas!
Simple yet classy = VOTE!
Odd car (miata, s2000, 300zx) = VOTE!
Black window tint and no neons = VOTE!
Personalized Skins that show effort = VOTE!
Rims that would (and should) be on real life cars (ie. 40 inch rims do not fit) = VOTE!
Colors that go together blended with sophistication and care = VOTE!
Again this criteria speaks for only a small portion of all who play, but we do vote often and are real life CARaholics.
