Guide to MapleStory Adventures for Facebook: Tips, tricks, cheats and hints

By

MapleStory Adventures is a Facebook adaptation to, and extension of, the popular MMORPG by Nexon that has taken the world by storm with its cute anime characters and simple yet complex gameplay. MapleStory Adventures is the latest example of the growing genre of traditional RPGs on Facebook, as you gain levels and fight monsters, and as you gain levels you become more and more powerful, but for MapleStory Adventures, many Facebook game traditions, such as "collections" and an energy system, have been added. MapleStory gives you whole new worlds to traverse through and many different collection quests to complete (also another Facebook game tradition) while keeping in the spirit of the original. These tips and tricks will help you maximize your energy, finish the quests as quickly as you can, and defeat the hordes of monsters you encounter on your adventure.

Energy is the biggest limiting factor in this game. When you fight a monster, you'll use one energy point for each time you're hit by the monster, and you'll also use one for each time you hit (or swing and miss) at the monster. Be careful when you fight monsters that are a higher level than you are - you're more likely to swing and miss, or to get hit, and thus waste energy. If you mouse over a monster and the monster's name and level are red (rather than white), don't fight the monster. Wait until you've leveled up enough, and then go back and fight the monster.

This especially applies to boss characters. Don't fight a boss character (I.E. King Slime) when you mouse over it and its name is in red, or you will waste a LOT of energy. Go and level up and save your lemons, because if you level up before you beat said boss character, you can easily go back and fight the boss and defeat the boss without having to use any of your lemons or other energy refill items, because you won't be swinging and missing and wasting energy.

On that note, go back and fight boss characters that you have already beaten. They will be much easier to defeat the second time around, and they will earn you lots of money and experience for beating them. Before you even go to Henesys, you should wait around and beat the first boss again. After you beat the very first boss, he'll regenerate in just 10 minutes, but if you continue on to Henesys, you won't be able to go back and fight the boss again.

After you level up, though, resist the temptation to go fighting old bosses again, because to make the most of your full energy bar, you should be completing the quests that are shown on the left side of the screen.

You even have quests that don't show on the left side of the screen that can be very rewarding when you complete them. To find these quests, go back to areas that you have previously beaten and talk to the person who's in the area. If they have a quest for you, it will suddenly open up to you. It will usually involve killing more of the enemies that are in that same area and waiting for a random item to drop a certain number of times. When there are no more quests yet, the person will just say one of their usual canned lines, but normally, there are 3-5 different quests from the same person that you can embark on.

Once you make it to Henesys, buying a cauldron from Yulete is the very first thing that you should do. Once you buy a cauldron from Yulete, you can then make money for doing absolutely nothing. You can brew the "Pocket Money" recipes and turn red stones into free gold, which will then allow you to buy gear much more quickly, increase your power, and defeat monsters faster while using less energy to do so. The best Pocket Money recipe is the original Pocket Money I, which is ready in 5 minutes, costs 40 stones and no gold, and earns you 1,000 gold each time you brew Pocket Money I and collect it.

Usually, defeated enemies will drop the same usual items, such as coins, red stones and collection pieces. However, occasionally, you will get a very valuable item drop, such as a weapon or a piece of equipment -for example, every so often a red slime will drop a Long Sword. There is no way to maximize the amount of big item drops you get other than to defeat as many enemies as possible. Keep and equip the items you want, and sell the ones you don't want or you already have duplicates of.

To sell a piece of equipment and make back some of the money you previously spent on an item, go to your bag, go to your gear, pick any item that you haven't equipped, and click the red X below it. You'll be prompted with the price of the item you want to sell, and asked if you want to sell the item for this much. Click yes to sell the item and make some extra coins.

If you're going to be away from the keyboard for a long time and you want to make a whole lot of money for doing absolutely nothing, go back to Yulete and brew up a recipe such as Gold I or Gold II that takes a long time to finish (6-10 hours) costs a lot of red stones, and will earn you a LOT of gold coins. These recipes can earn you as much as 10,000 to 15,000 gold coins, all for simply shutting the game off and doing whatever else you need to do during your day.

Be sure to hire your friends as often as possible to help you defeat monsters. You can hire friends multiple times a day - a few hours after the last time you hired a friend, you can hire that same friend again. Also, each time you hire a friend, you will earn 5 bonus energy. So have a lot of friends, and hire them very often, in order to maximize your own energy and their energy (each friend has 15 energy that they can use in your favor).

That's all! More tips? Post as comments!

money-wise, it's impractical to use the pocket money 1 recipe before you will only earn 1000gold from 40 magic stones. if you use the gold 1 recipe, you will earn 10000gold from 200 magic stones (equivalent to 2000 gold for every 40 coins) which yields greater gold in proportion. it takes longer however.
