Zuma Blitz for Facebook: guide, tips, tricks, strategies, cheats
Zuma Blitz is a fun new Facebook puzzle game by Popcap Games, the creator of superstar Facebook hit Bejeweled Blitz. Much like Bejeweled Blitz, this one is a somewhat RPG-esque variant on a popular puzzle game. This particular version has you playing 1-minute games of Zuma, gaining experience and 'mojo' for each, both of which help you unlock new 'powers' that give you an advantage. The more new powers you have, the higher of a score you can unlock in the game. However, you don't need the powers to get massively high scores in Zuma Blitz. You can do that just fine with some tips, hints and tricks. Keep reading to find out how to become a master not only of Zuma Blitz, but of any other version of Zuma you play...
You gain a set number of experience points and mojo for each game you play on Zuma Blitz, and your score can determine how many you score. However, the number doesn't really change that much whether you have a high score or low score. The main thing that decides how fast you gain mojo and experience points is one thing and one thing only: how often you play.
There is a very easy technique that can help you earn a massively high score EVERY SINGLE TIME: Focus on the gap shots. Gap shots are where your real big scoring is done. Whether or not you are using power ups in the game, always try to focus on making the gap shots, as even small combos can become 30,000 dollar shots. The smaller the gap you shoot the ball through, the more bonus points you score from the shot, even though even with huge gaps to shoot through, you can still score huge amounts of points.
If you want to save up mojo, turn off ALL of your powers, since each power costs 500 mojo per game to use. However, you get a lot of bonus mojo as you go, and you never really need as much mojo as you earn. You'll have more use for golden idols, which you will earn as bonuses when you gain levels.
Don't shoot balls at the fruits that you could otherwise use to shoot a combo or a gap shot. The only balls you should shoot at fruits are the ones that wouldn't make a combo at the time, or at least wouldn't make a good, long combo.
String together multiple combos for more and more bonus points. Do this and you have a potential of earning high scores even without a load of gap shots, because you will get more and more bonus points for the number of combos you string together.
You will get more and more in-game bonuses for scoring 50,000 points, and then for every 25,000 on top of that you score. Work on your scores by 25,000 at a time and you will earn a
load of bonuses.

The more balls you break during the game the higher your mojo will be.

can anyone tell me what all the powers do. like the chain blast, Chrono balls, fruit master and inferno frog. Can't see to notice a difference when I put them as a power like I can the bomb, last hurrah and cannon. Please help!!!

how do i use the powers or are they just automatic??? ughhh. my score hardly ever changes though i score points all the time. i don't get it! ugh
Yeah, never shoot at the fruit...especially considering if you keep shooting at them you get get them to be worth 100k+

guys the fruit in higher levels can be worth more than 20k! definitely worth getting the fruit and the gap shots are good too!
Been playing the game for some time. At level 58 and thought I might share my playing style which could easily get me 800-1mil score with powers and 500-600k with no powers. Current highest score is at 1.48mil. What I normally do is to divide powers into a few categories to be used together.
1. Multiplier, Timer and Sun Frog----Sun frog gives your hot frog 5 shots, and timer and multiplier gives you more in game time and of course, head start at scoring. To max out the benefits, I practiced getting x8 and getting at least 8 time balls in non-powered games. To further max-out the benefits of the hot frog, I tried getting x50- x70 chains which basically means try not to make mistakes. This way you could get scores from speed matching, fruits(since curves are always kept in check from hot frogs).
2. Cannon King, Last Hurrah, Tiki Bombs----Easy and brainless way to play. Could get you a few hundred Ks in score. Last Hurrah works only on powerballs in the game when the timer runs out. So basically you would want lots of power balls to appear on your map. Not a very good way to top scores IMO since there is no chance of you getting gap shots and the balls kept getting cleared up so badly you spend more time waiting for them to come out.
3. Multiplier, Timer, maybe speed ball(if you couldn't keep the frog hot constantly)-----Since you are doing gap shots, it wouldn't be good if you keep having to wait for those gaps to form which would happen if you use too much explosive powers.
Basically these are the 3 combinations of powers I normally use with combi 1 being the most used, 3 the second most and 2 the least. 1 and 3 gave me really good scores depending on the map. For squarish maps that doesn't criss-cross like the one that appeared first week of Feb, I would use combi 3 and use a lot of gap shots to get my scores up. Since gaps are easily formed and adjusted.
For this current map, Sun Frog does the job nicely. Getting all the timer balls and multiplier balls before they disappear is imperative. Also I make an effort to clear curves in such a way that I would be setting up curves in at least x2 combo. I also try not to spend too much time thinking and clear each curve alternatively. This allows me to watch the 2 curves at most times letting me track the colors. Most importantly, I am keeping the frog hot enough for Speed Shot bonuses and Sun Frog.
As for fruits, to get them you have to keep the map generally clean of balls. So if any fruits spawn on the map, you could easily reach them. 6 fruits with a x8 multiplier gives around 400k score. Also, if you get 3 Sun frogs for a game, you could easily clear the curves a lot of times to chalk up more scores under the specials category. As for chaining, you might not see the reason of it when your max chain is 30, which is only 60-80k score. However at x70 chains, the score gets up to 200k++. In such a game where you didn't manage to get a single fruit, you could easily get 600-800k score which is already quite a feat amongst my friends.
The above is just my Zuma experience. Feel free to share yours. I am still trying to improve my game. :D
Why won't Zuma Blitz load facebook? I've been playing it for about a month and I'm hooked. Today is the day it starts with a new pattern and it acts like I can play but when I click on play game - it acts like it's going to start, but the pattern does not come up. Any idea what I can do to fix this problem?

What is going on?? My problem started a week ago. It looks like everything will be ok and then there is the blank black screen.
i have been playing for a while now and i tried to get on and only get a blank black screen. Please let me know what is going on. I love this game very relaxing for me after a long day at work.

The load problem showed up when people went from Firefox 3 to 4. Firefox and Zuma do not play well together. Revert to 3.
Storm's notes are great, way better than the original post, which is horrible. They may have tweaked the scoring rules, I dunno, but I get lots more out of fruit than gap shots these days. I'm at level 62, and getting 4 fruit is worth at least 140k up to 250k depending on where my X multiplier is at the time.

how can use the powers?
I'm not sure if this is a computer problem or a FB problem. I'll be in the middle of the game and all of the sudden it just goes away and goes back to the FB page. Anyone have any ideas on what might be going on or if there might be something I can do on my computer to stop this from happening? thanks
